The Thingamajig Connects To The Whoosawhatsit.
I was reviewing some existing copywriting material for a client this week. This was printed marketing material aimed at delivering new clients.
The first thing that struck me was the use of language right up front the target client may not immediately know and understand. Now, being in the business of writing about “technical stuff” means dealing with product specific jargon is a daily event.
But early in the marketing process, simpler is usually better. It is so easy to get all wrapped up in the complexity of the product and our want to get it all out in one sentence, we lose the prospect in a sea of confusion.
Once you have established “a conversation” with the new prospect, piqued their interest and gained their trust, then increase the complexity of the message.
Talk Again Soon,
